The Extech MO230 is a pocket moisture meter that reads moisture content in a wide range of materials using pin-type electrical resistance measurement. The contact pins insert into the material to give quick readings that help identify moisture and moisture-related issues.
The meter applies to wood, paper, wallboard, sheet rock, cardboard, plaster, concrete and mortar. It carries three wood groups and four building material groups with calibrations for roughly 150 species of wood and 19 building material types, so readings can be matched to the material being tested.
A large dual graphical LCD shows the moisture value alongside an analog bargraph and minimum and maximum readings. A programmable wet and dry indication plus an index mode with high and low values help flag when a reading crosses a set threshold.
The impact-proof housing, replaceable electrode pins and a built-in battery check and measurement verification test make the MO230 a practical pocket tool for building inspections, flooring installations and general moisture detection.
